      About Anelie

Anelie’s love of sewing began at a very young age, as stitching up clothing for her dolls was a favorite pass time. By the time she was age 10 she began to use a sewing machine and progressed to making her own clothing. At the age of 13-she saw a log cabin scrap quilt in a magazine and began to collect fabrics and sew the quilt, King Size, for her parents. As a junior in High School she had the privilege of attending a school in Germany, which taught her beginning pattern making, and sparked her desire to create with fabric.

She was accepted into the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising with a full scholarship and majored in Fashion Design. Upon graduation she worked in the clothing industry for companies in San Francisco including Gunne Sax - Jessica McClintock and Jeanne Marc.

After being married and having 3 children she stepped away from the fashion industry. Her family settled in Volcano, California and as the last child began kindergarten she ventured into her own business. She started teaching children how to sew. This developed into a quilt store full of fabric, sewing supplies and students of all ages. For the last 15 years she has been teaching all levels of quilting. Specializing in Beginning quilting classes, Appliqué, Machine Quilting, and much more.

The last few years has taken her from teaching quilts to designing quilts. Her original designs have been produced as patterns and sold in local stores. In 2001 one of her quilts was published by C&T publishing in Show Me HowAnelieDresden to Create Quilting Designs by Kathy Sandbach. For the past 3 years she has been designing and writing directions for a block of the month that is printed in the Amador Ledger Dispatch. Amador County TSPN TV station has invited her to appear as a monthly guest on the Amador Live Show to demonstrate quilting techniques.

Anelie’s new  “Thorougly Modern Dresden” was released in June 2009.  In this book, Anelie has developed a new way to use the traditional Dresden pattern.

Anelie has taught and lectured at numerous Quilt Guilds throughout Northern California. She has also organized many quilt retreats, which are held in Volcano, Bodega Bay, and Lake Tahoe. Her quilts have won awards at a local level and at West Cost Trade Shows.
